These cakes were made for two special brothers who were celebrating their big days with one fantastic party. The Mom let each boy choose the theme of their cake. The older brother requested a Basketball cake, which was vanilla cake with chocolate fudge filling. It has buttercream icing and fondant accents.
The younger brother requested a Mario Kart cake. This cake was a chocolate cake with vanilla creme filling. It has buttercream icing and fondant accents.
A dessert that is as wonderful to look at as it is to eat helps to capture the essence of any special event!

May the 4th be with you...
Okay, this cake was actually made for September 4th, but I couldn't resist the Star Wars Day reference :) This Artoo cake (A resourceful, spunky and adventurous astromech droid according to StarWars.com) was made for two sweet brothers celebrating their birthday this past weekend. They are Star Wars fans and so their Mom requested this cake to help make this celebration day a little more special! The cake has a bottom layer of milk chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and a top layer of vanilla cake with white chocolate ganache filling. The legs are made of Krispy Treats. All fondant covering and accents.
Two things I have learned from this cake adventure is that 1) R2D2 is a really fun cake to make and 2) I know far too much about Star Wars, thanks to my own two boys who are Star Wars obsessed :)

This cake is a vanilla cake with white chocolate ganache filling and vanilla buttercream. The top was made on a cake board out of fondant and krispy treats so the Birthday Boy could save it.

Prehistoric Party!
This cake was made for my son who is turning 6. I am still waiting for him to outgrow dinosaurs, but so far, they are still his favorite!! He has had a dinosaur birthday theme every year since he could talk :)
This is a cookies and cream top layer cake and a double chocolate cake with white chocolate ganache filling for the bottom layer. The cake is iced in white chocolate buttercream with hand painted designs and fondant accents. I think chocolate cake with white chocolate ganache filling is my new favorite...yummmmm!

Aloha and Mahalo!
These cakes were made for an end-of-the-year Luau themed party at one of our fabulous, local pre-schools! The cakes were made to look like Hawaiin shirts - aka something someone might wear to a Luau or on a tropical holiday. The cakes are carved from sheet cakes. They are vanilla flavor, with white chocolate ganache and vanilla butttercream. They are handpainted with food coloring and accented with fondant :)

Tangled Tower
This cake was made for two special little sisters celebrating their Birthday together! They both love the movie Tangled (well, who doesn't??) and wanted a cake with the Tangled Tower theme to celebrate the occasion. The cake is a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. Tower is krispy treats covered in fondant with fondant flowers and royal icing vines. Everything is edible on the cake except for a tower post in the center and the characters :).
